About me...
I have lived in many places and done many things in this lifetime and at the moment I am happiest being mama to two small boys and partner to their papa, all thriving on sunshine and love on the southern coast of Victoria.

About my square...
I like to find creative projects that I can pick up and put down easily as we go through our days. The quilt project was a lot of fun. It went with me to the beach, tap lessons, picnics in sheoak forests, survived splashes at the local pool and had a lot of help from small hands.

I asked my youngest son what I should do and he said, "a tree with some ducks underneath". So here it is!

All the line work is an improvised form of stem stitch and the leaves are either satin stitch, fern stitch or stem stitch. I did french knots for the ducks eyes. This was my first embroidery project so I am pretty happy at how it turned out.

I do have a blog at oneandfour.com but with only a few entries in the last two years I can't call myself a prolific blogger, but that's ok, one day I will find my niche.

About me...
I’m currently setting up a business with my buddy Jess, for the creation and sale of custom invitations, cards and lovely prints.


About my square...
My square has been gocco’d, appliquéd and handsewn. First, I drew the design in pencil. I then photocopied each element of the design in order to create my screens. These were then printed and hand-sewn to my calico square using red and beige thread in back-stitch and blanket stitch.

I really like birds. I think they are a symbol of freedom and beauty to many people.

About me...
I am wife to an Architect and mother to two adorable girls age 10 and 17

I love to create work in 2D and in 3D. My blog is a journal of things I love to create and love to collect.

I sew, stitch and make mixed media pieces. I knit a little and am always learning to crochet.

I love to find old things, that after a good clean I can breath new life into and use. For example crockery and linens.
I collect buttons, vintage Tupperware, Pyrex and teacups.

About my square...
My Square is inspired by my love of whimsy, fairies, owls, fairytales and the wee folk. I wanted to have The Quilt Project itself incorporated into my Square.
I decided upon owls as the wee folk with their own little quilt hanging out to dry.

Most of the time I hang about home and mother., the rest of the time I am a freelance designer specialising in pattern design and illustration. I enjoy nothing more than a nice cup of tea, a speedy internet connection, making and drawing. I write a blog and run a small crafty business called AuntyCookie.

About my square…
My square is embroidered by hand using 2 strands of embroidery floss. This is the second thing I have ever embroidered so dont look too closely! It was inspired by an Emiliana Torrini song called 'Birds'. In real life I am quite scared of birds so I guess its an odd choice, but I do believe you keep your friends close and enemies closer so maybe I am subconsciously trying to keep the winged things on my side....not sure.

My name is Peta-Jane.
Married, 2 children, one dog.
I ramble on with crafty bits and other daily dribble at unpicking is the pits.

Thanks to my 4 year old, I seem to spend more time crafting with playdough , glitter gel and finger paints than I do with my needle, thread and fabric !

About my square...
My block design for the Quilt Project is my attempt at making light of my distaste for windy days. Windy days always mean bad hair days !
This block is my first “stitchery” ...umm...so don’t look to closely !!

I am a late bloomer in the world of craft and sewing. I discovered quilting 10 years ago. Since then, I have found a world of inspiration and crafty community in blogland which has lead me to try my hand at various projects. I hate unpicking but have learnt that it can be a necessary evil rather than live with a glaring mistake ...and I have made a few of those along the way.

I am full-time toymaker and lucky wife. I love the creative process and exploring new creative media. When I'm not busy making things; I enjoy pinball, tattoos and math problems.

About my square...
My square features appliqued quilting fabric and hand-embroidery using 2 strands of embroidery floss. This is my first completed embroidery piece.

The phrase on the blog is a tribute to my husband who travels with me through life's. He has taught me to slow down and enjoy each day rather than rushing to the finish. As I was creating this square, I tried to work within this philosophy of simple slow steps.

I have always liked to draw turtles.

The design for my square is based on a found note written by a child. Using an old craft book as a reference, I learned as I went. I hope this project inspires some people to try their hand at embroidery- it’s fun and not as hard as you might imagine.
